Mother's Day Greyhound Walk Hello Everyone! The Calgary Greyhound walking club likes to acknowledge special days (and holidays) throughout the year by getting out on parade with our hounds for some exercise as well as celebration! The Easter weekend group walk was lovely with a fantastic turn out in North Glenmore Park. Lots of new and familiar faces in the crowd. A warm welcome to the new walkers including a couple who joined us to learn about what it is like to adopt a greyhound and one first timer... a lurcher named Boots. He and his family, are recent immigrants to Calgary from England. We all had a good walk and the hounds enjoyed their holiday treat bags. It’s Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 14th. Time to head out again as a group to celebrate! We will walk in Edworthy Park NW at 10 am to try to beat the expected heat on that day. We are not sure if we have any greyhound brood Mums in our walking club these days but if your greyt girl has been a Mum, let us know on Sunday! Easter Walk Hello Everyone! It has been a long time since the walking club has been out together! Thanks to the wonderful group that came out to Bowness Park NW last October to celebrate Halloween! What fun! We had some amazing costumes to enjoy on some of the hounds and their humans. The winter has been long, cold and snowy but we are optimistic that spring has finally arrived and not just on the calendar! Most of the paved park paths are now ice free. Let’s get out for a stretch with the group again! This time, we will head to the SW and into North Glenmore Park on Saturday, April 8th at noon. We will meet in parking lot F. Because this is the Easter weekend, we realize many will have family plans on Sunday so please note the switch to Saturday instead of our traditional Sunday morning walks. There will be post walk treats for our hounds and possibly an Easter bonnet (and bunny) or two will be spotted in the crowd!
