“For the Love of Dogs” BC 2018 Valentine Gala Fundraiser
Northwest Canadian Greyhound League (NCGL) became a Registered Charity in the year 2000. Our mandate is to rescue and rehome retired racing Greyhounds, owner-surrendered Greyhounds and Greyhound mixes as well as other Sight Hound breeds. Our Board of Directors are all volunteers and a large percentage of our Greyhound owners assist in offering their homes to foster incoming hounds as well as participate in our fundraising activities, such as Meet and Greets in PetSmart stores, picnics, animal expos, Greyhound walks and other events as they arise.
On Saturday, February 10th, 2018 NCGL held a major fundraiser “For the Love of Dogs” to raise funds that will go towards our major expense, Veterinary fees. The hounds that come into our organization are completely vetted before being adopted out to their approved forever homes. Our entire operation depends on donations because the adoption fees seldom cover the veterinary fees paid, so we decided to hold this first-ever Valentine fundraiser.
The Vancouver Austria Club was donated and prepared a wonderful dinner enjoyed by all while we listened to the Inlet Jazz Band and 3 City Jazz, who donated their time, delivering outstanding music for listening and dancing. A successful Silent Auction was popular with everyone and will allow NCGL to continue caring and finding homes for the hounds. The following corporate and private donors contributed to the success of the auction and NCGL is very grateful for their participation. We hope you will support them as well!

In addition, this video, produced by one of our volunteers, was presented to the guests in attendance and we thought you would like to view a few of the many hounds that have come into NCGL’s care over the years before moving on to their forever homes.
And one more, short CTV news video showing a recent rescue of abandoned dogs in Saskatchewan by our Alberta volunteers. All the of the Greyhounds are in foster care and will be available for adoption once they are completely vetted. The Beagle and Shephard-mix have been turned over to the appropriate rescue groups for those breeds.Contact the NCGL Chapter in your area by clicking Contact NCGL for further information on the Greyhounds
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE who helped make this such a success, that includes the BANDS, the VENUE, ALL the Volunteers involved, working tirelessly over a period of 4-1/2 months, the DONORS, and EVERYONE that attended!
