Born on July 19, 2012, Janet is a sweet, friendly girl. While she enjoys going out on walks and things, she also enjoys lounging around the house. She’s generally a pretty calm, quiet girl, but might need a little time to adjust to her new life. She enjoys rawhide bones and stuffed toys.
Janet shows a lot of interest in cats and should not be trusted with them. If the behaviour is strongly and consistently discouraged, it may improve in time.
Janet did well with the other Greyhounds, but can be protective of her “space”, so keep this in mind if other dogs are visiting or small children are around. She did well when meeting the Jack Russell Terriers.
March 2017 – Update on Beautiful Janet who has made her way back to NCGL. She will be looking for a new home once she’s had some time to decompress and settle in. Stay tuned for more info!
This lovely lady will be looking for a foster home with a more experienced adopter, welcome back Janet!
Foster Update
Janet is doing great in her foster home and is with another dog. We feel that she’ll be a great pet in a family with no young kids, cats and a home that understands space/bed aggression. This is pretty common with the new racers and it is felt this will improve with time and exposure. She’s fine with the other dog in the house, has really, really, really calmed down and is now a super playful sweet lady that loves toys.
Janet is currently Hookworm positive and is being treated, if you’d like to contribute to her boarding and vet bills you can make a donation on our website at www.ncgl.ca
Jannet is ready to go to her forever home……update follows:
Jannet is a super sweet playful girl who loves doing crazy zoomies in the yard and playing with stuffies. She enjoys playing with her canine foster brother Max and loves snuggles with her foster family. She’s got great manners and hasn’t messed in the house or taken things that aren’t hers and walks beautifully on lead. She would do great in a home with another low-key and polite dog. Jannet is not cat safe.
Jannet does have some issues with people and dogs being in her space and will require a home with no or older children. Sometimes the retired racers we bring up have issues with people and other pets entering their space because at the track this never happened, with caution, time and training it can improve and even disappear, just in the time she’s been in her foster home we’ve seen a huge improvement!
Jannet loves her people so much that she has a hard time with them leaving her. She does have some separation anxiety so a home that’s willing to work with her on alone training or a family that isn’t gone all day is a must.
Jannet is a sweet girl and we hope she finds her forever family soon!
April Update:
Jannet is doing amazing in her foster home! She enjoys taking over the couch, playing with toys and going on walks. Jannet is looking for a calm home preferably as a single dog with no young children and no kitties. She seems to enjoy men over women (unless foster mom is feeding her!).
Jannet needs to find her forever place in this world, could it be with you?
